Fresh Start Coached Sessions

Your First Climbing Session with a Coach

Fresh Start Class: This is your first time climbing, done properly.

This is a single coached starter session designed to get complete beginners comfortable on the wall fast, without committing to a multi-week course.

You’ll get a clear, friendly introduction to bouldering basics, including safety, how the gym works, and the key technique habits that make climbing feel easier right away.

The focus is immediate confidence and practical skills you can use the same day:

    • simple footwork cues,
    • body position,
    • how to read a problem, and how to practise safely.

It’s the ideal “first step” before deciding whether you want ongoing coaching or the full Bouldering FUNdamentals Course.

Shoe hire is included, and after the coached session you’re welcome to keep climbing for the rest of the day to practise what you learned.

Who is this for?

  • First-time climbers aged 8+
  • Beginners who want a one-off guided intro before choosing a course
  • Anyone who wants quick confidence and a structured start

What you’ll get:

  • A one-session coached introduction (not a course)
  • Safety basics + how bouldering works in the gym
  • Technique foundations you can apply immediately (footwork, body position, simple tactics)
  • Personal feedback from the coach during the session
  • Shoe hire is included
  • Climb for the rest of the day after the session

Great wall, nice atmosphere and music. Routes are well set with some fun challenges. The grading is a little all over the place and sometimes it's unclear where a route finishes. Overall well worth a visit.

Hey guys, thanks for letting an old guy stop by and visit your new gym! The place looks fantastic and I can see how it’s just going to get better! Everyone was really nice, maybe I’ll be back one day and able to climb.

I started going to The Crashpad for bouldering and I really like it. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They are still helping me while I do my foundation classes. I used to climb with friends, but I have not climbed for 12 years, so I was a bit nervous to come back. I am not as fit as I used to be, but everyone makes me feel comfortable. The instructors are very kind and patient. They help me learn step by step. The other climbers are also very friendly and encouraging. Thank you to everyone there, especially the instructors, for being so helpful and welcoming.

Crashpad is a great climbing gym with really good facilities as they are all quite new, and there is a really good variety of climbs (slabs, overhangs, comp walls) and also appropriate levels depending on your skill level . Staff are all super friendly and accommodating which was very nice as I am a tourist visiting Malta - if I lived here I would definitely go back! Good price considering the quality of facilities and shoe and chalk rental are available for a small extra fee. There is also a surprisingly well equipped gym considering the focus is obviously climbing. Highly highly reccomend !

COME FIND
AND SOLVE
YOUR PROBLEM

COME FIND
AND SOLVE
YOUR PROBLEM

Bouldering is often called a “vertical puzzle”. And that’s exactly where the magic lies. When you step onto the mat, the outside world fades away. All that matters is the route in front of you: the sequence, the balance, the execution. You are completely present. In that intense focus, you find a powerful mental break. While you are solving that physical problem on the wall, you are also giving your mind the clear, the quiet space it needs.

It's a Full-Body Challenge

Climbing is a uniquely challenging sport that engages your body and your brain in equal measure. It builds strength, mobility, and coordination like nothing else. But more importantly, it sharpens your focus and resilience. Every climb is a fresh challenge, and every completed route is a small, hard-earned victory. You’ll leave feeling physically exhausted but mentally recharged.

Bouldering is for Everyone

You do not need to be strong or experienced to start bouldering. This sport is genuinely accessible and inclusive, welcoming everyone regardless of their current fitness level. Bouldering is fundamentally about coordination, balance, and learning smart movement, not raw power. Our low-height routes and thick padding create the perfect, safe environment for you to try your very first climb. We provide the friendly coaches and all the gear; you just need to show up ready to move and discover the thrill!

Find Your Crew

The best part of the climbing experience is the people. It’s an incredibly inclusive and supportive community. You’ll find strangers cheering you on, offering advice, and celebrating your success. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned veteran, you’ll find your team, your challenge, and your sense of belonging here at Crashpad.

Boost Your Mindset

Climbing is more than just a workout—it’s a mental reset. Each climb teaches patience, problem-solving, and perseverance. When you’re on the wall, the world narrows to a single focus: the next move. That sense of flow clears stress, sharpens your thinking, and builds confidence that carries into everyday life.

Learn the language: bouldering terms

Boulder Problem

The name for the climbing route itself. Your challenge is to 'solve the problem' from start to finish.

Send

Successfully climbing a route (or 'problem') from the start hold to the finish hold without falling.

Dyno

Short for 'dynamic move'. This is a fast, often spectacular movement where you jump or launch yourself to reach a distant hold.

Slab

A climbing surface that is less steep than vertical, or perhaps even gently sloping inward. It demands excellent balance and delicate footwork.

Flash

Sending a problem successfully on your very first attempt. A brilliant achievement!

Beta

Advice or information about how to climb a specific route. (e.g., "What's the beta on that green route?")

Crux

The single hardest or most challenging move on a particular boulder problem.

Spotting

Guiding a falling climber towards the crash mats with your hands, usually used for high or tricky moves.

Top Out

Successfully finishing a climb by moving over the top of the wall and standing on the upper platform

Footwork

How you use your feet to gain stability and purchase on the small, smooth holds. Crucial for progression!
