Climbing Guidebook Malta

The Malta Climbing Guide Book 2006 is now available for sale at Crashpad.

The Malta Climbing Guide book has been released in February 27 2026 and contains a guide for over 1100 (primarily sport climbing) routes across Malta and Gozo.

The new edition of the “Sportclimbing in Malta & Gozo” guidebook now features all of the most newly developed crags, routes and more. You no longer need to strain your eyes and take screenshots from The Crag or try to source information from a bunch of files and Facebook groups!

Key Details of the 2026 Edition

  • Expansion: The new guide has grown significantly to 328 pages, a major increase from the previous 168-page edition released in 2013.
  • The book is written by Simon Alden, Jeffrey Camilleri, and Stevie Haston, published under Tufa Publications. All three authors with a number of other people have contributed significantly to the bolting in the Maltese islands.

    Simon Alden has been involved in the local climbing scene for many years and is currently also president of ClimbMT the Maltese Climbing Association.

    Jeffrey Camilleri has been one of the most active bolters on the Maltese islands contributing hundreds of routes to the local scene including a large number of classics in some of Malta’s best crags, including Latnija Cave, Ghar Lapsi, Victoria Lines and many epic sea cliffs routes.

    Stevie Haston, who lives in Gozo has been most active in Gozo where he’s been actively opening and bolting new routes for several decades. Mgarr ix-Xini, The Underworld and the epic multi-pitch route alla Jhobbok are some of his creations. Stevie, a 9A climber, is known for his stiff grading compared to the rest of the island, and adventurous runouts. Steve’s routes are not for the faint-hearted.

The new guidebook focuses specifically on bolted sport climbing found across all areas of Malta and Gozo. This update is considered “long-overdue” given the extensive new routing and rehabilitation of older lines that has occurred over the last decade.
